Hi there! Iām Hugo.
I am a Kansas City-based graphic designer, archivist, and arts administrator. Currently, I am studying Media, Art, & Design at the University of Missouri-Kansas City.
My work tends to explore experimental publishing as a means to amplify emerging narratives and dialogues. Through zine-making, design, and archiving, my practice involves exploring the concept of safe spaces and their persistence over time, particularly with how queer, Black and Brown communities live and gather. I question what it means to maintain a safe space and how such spaces can endure. This exploration has guided the development of my work, which centers on uplifting queer, Black, and Brown voices through visual and textual media.
I am always interested in pursuing freelance work and opportunities that will help me learn and grow as a designer.
In the meantime, please explore my website!
